Description
The Inner Child
This design is one of three out of Abbies Series work “A Child’s Freedom”.
This piece was created with the idea of using pattern that symbolises a child’s mind. She used lots of childlike pattern; lego, bubbles, books, shapes, cars, worms to really get that inner child feeling. She wanted to choose an animal to represent a child so she chose a monkey, as they always seem to be so energetic, fun and always swinging like there freedom is right there in front of them. Abbie chose to use this animal to highlight the playful, fun side of a child but also to highlight that the fun, playful, creative side gets drawn out of a child when they start to follow rules, a system and people. Abbie wanted to give a feeling of what everyone should feel like as a child. When does that bit of us get taken away? Do we even notice until it’s to late? If you look closely into the design there are a few hidden phrases where Abbie really shows her true feelings behind her design. Abbie has also created a blog on the thoughts and the process of this piece, which can be found here:
